PRC Orders Hearing on Blue Cross Rate Hike By Michael Hartranft - Albuquerque Journal - SANTA FE — The Public Regulation Commission on Thursday ordered the state Insurance Division to schedule a public hearing on a controversial rate increase sought by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico.         It also directed the division superintendent to consider freezing rates or imposing an interim rate pending the hearing, and to report back to the commission by next week.

Controller Glenn Duffy was already in trouble for allowing his son to give instructions to pilots preparing for take-off on Feb. 16. The Federal Aviation Administration then discovered Duffy pulled the move again with the boy's twin sister, sources said.

Schools Hit Again By Hailey Heinz - Journal Staff Writer        School districts around the state are wrestling with larger budget cuts than expected because the Legislature's attempt to rescue them has run into legal problems. For Albuquerque Public Schools, that means a 2 percent cut in the current budget instead of the 0.8 percent reduction it had hoped for. That's a difference of $7 million.
