of Computers and Network Resources
How to access your school email:
From Home use the
student page at: http://www.chsrams.org
Click on the ÒStudent CenterÓ button in
the left menu. Click the ÒEmail from homeÓ button. This will bring up a sign in
screen, you must type in your school username and password and the domain name
ÒcimarronÓ. If there is not an area to place the domain name, then you must
enter your username in this format: cimarron\yourusername

RESPONSIBILITY:
- Students/users
are responsible for good behavior on school computer networks, just as
they are in a classroom or school hallway.
- The
network is provided for users to conduct research on educational topics
and communicate with others. Access to the Cimarron network is given to
users who agree to act in a considerate and responsible manner. Access
is a Privilege, not a right. Inappropriate use will result in the loss
or cancellation of privileges
- Attempting
to bypass the district filter, utilizing alternative methods to access
blocked sites, accessing external email accounts (Hotmail, Yahoo, etcÉ.)
and all chat programs are not allowed and will result in immediate loss of
computer privileges. As will electronic cheating of ANY kind.
- When
requesting a site review, include your school email so a response can be
sent. All anonymous requests will be rejected.
- Students/users
will not show other student/users how to perform an illegal function on
the network.
- If you
download copyrighted material for your own use, permission must be
specified in the document.

Within reason and appropriateness, freedom of speech and
access to information will be honored. The district does utilize site
filtering software as well as computer monitoring/surveillance programs to
block inappropriate sites and randomly check/photograph student screens and
actions.
- Students/users
may not publish over the system or network any information that violates
or infringes on the rights of other people or that would be abusive,
profane, sexually offensive or that solicits the performance of any
activity that is prohibited by law.
- Be
polite and use appropriate language. Remember that you are a user and
therefore a representative of our school and our District on a non-private
system. E-mail is not guaranteed to be private. Messages relating to or in
support of illegal activities will be reported.
- Any
physical or digital computer vandalism will result in the loss of computer
access, disciplinary action and any other referrals in line with the
District discipline plan.
- Students/users
should practice proper Computer Manners; Look away whenever someone is
typing a password or typing letters. Only print once, if a problem occurs,
contact a teacher/supervisor. Leave your area clean and in order when you
leave. Push your chair in to show the unit is free. Keep your sound level
where it
is not distracting.

LAB RULES
- Never
bring food or drink into the lab.
- Sign
in to computer to be used.
- Place
all bags and books in designated area away from computers.
- Only
print a document once. If printing fails contact help. Do not continue
trying to print.
- Log
off correctly so your account will remain secure.
- Keep
your password confidential.
- No
games, chat, or non-school e-mail is allowed.
- You
are not allowed to download/install programs.
- When
you leave:
- Clean
your area
- Straighten
your computer and monitor
- Pull
the keyboard and mouse pad even with the table front.
- Push
in your chair
- Report

FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
( Breaking rules will result
in complete loss of computer privileges for a MINIMUM of 9 weeks. )
- Sending
or displaying offensive messages or pictures
- Using
obscene language
- Harassing,
insulting, or attacking others
- Damaging
computers, computer accessories, computer systems, or computer networks.
- Violating
copyright laws or plagiarism
- Using
another individuals password
- Trespassing
in anotherÕs folders, work or files
- Intentionally
wasting limited resources
- Employing
the network for commercial purposes.
- Utilizing
alternative methods to bypass district filtering.
